Colorado College is once again participating in the Pikes Peak Pride Parade on Sunday, June 14<\/strong>, joining the broader Pikes Peak community in celebration and solidarity.<\/p>\n

This year, CC\u2019s parade theme is Trans Visibility<\/strong>, centering the celebration and support of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people. Through this theme, we affirm belonging within our community and recognize the importance of visibility in advancing dignity, safety, and equity for all.<\/p>\n

Staff, faculty, students, and their families are invited to take part in the celebration. CC is working with The Press to create and share affirmations along the parade route.<\/p>\n

The parade begins promptly at 10 a.m. at Acacia Park<\/strong>, near Platte Boulevard and Tejon Street, and will finish at Alamo Square Park, near E. Vermijo Avenue and Tejon Street. Participants should plan to commit to two or more hours, and the parade will take place rain or shine. Colorado College has received a $1.5 million Mellon Foundation Humanities for All Times grant to launch a three-year curricular initiative named Generative Futures: Critical Language Inquiry in the Age of Artificial Intelligence that aims to examine the shifting role of language in shaping knowledge, identity and the ways in which we understand the world in an era where the influence of AI is increasingly pervasive.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis grant allows us to engage what is perhaps the <\/em>central question facing educators\u2014facing all of us\u2014today,\u201d said Ryan Ba\u00f1agale, Director of the Crown Center for Teaching and Assistant Dean of the Faculty, who is the faculty lead on this interdisciplinary team project. \u201cLanguage and technology are intertwined irrevocably in today\u2019s world. Our goal is to help students slow down and ask how meaning takes shape in such a deeply mediated world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernadette Latham \u201927 is one of only 454 students across the United States to be awarded a 2026 Barry Goldwater Scholarship.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly empowering to be identified as a part of ‘the nation\u2019s next generation of research leaders,’\u201d says Latham, a Neuroscience major and Global Health and Human Biology and Kinesiology double minor. \u201cWinning this award has strengthened my motivation to continue pursuing research and reaffirmed my commitment to women\u2019s brain research.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seeing a need to connect CC students with local businesses, Kyle Kihlberg \u201929 and Nick Brashear \u201929 created PeakAssist\u2014a student-led program that links Colorado Springs businesses with CC students through structured marketing internships.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe benefit to the Colorado Springs community and students at CC is at the heart of what we’re building,\u201d Kihlberg says. \u201cPeakAssist creates a direct bridge between CC students and local businesses. We want CC to feel genuinely connected to the city around it, not just a campus that exists inside it.\u201d<\/p>\n
