I am writing to share that Emily Chan, Vice President, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor of Psychology, will be leaving Colorado College to become Executive Vice President and Provost at Middlebury College. Her last day with the College will be Aug. 15, allowing time for a thoughtful transition of her responsibilities and the many initiatives she leads. Information about a farewell gathering will be shared at a later date.<\/p>\n

Since joining Colorado College in 2004, Emily has helped shape the institution in ways that will continue to benefit our College community for years to come.<\/p>\n

Her work has touched nearly every corner of the institution over the course of her tenure\u2014from collaborating with Admission to expand our international student recruitment and support, to supporting incoming students from underrepresented backgrounds through the launch and growth of the Bridge Scholars Program, to providing COVID testing during the uncertainty of the pandemic, and most recently, to advancing the science building initiative and helping shape a new vision for the sciences here at CC. <\/p>\n

These select examples of the many ways Emily has contributed to Colorado College illustrate the breadth of her impact across the institution and on the work of the students, faculty, staff, and colleagues who have benefited from her leadership, teaching, collaboration, and partnership.<\/p>\n

An Interim Dean of the Faculty will be hired in July and will overlap with Emily to ensure continuity and continued momentum on key College priorities.<\/p>\n

While we will miss Emily as a colleague, I am delighted that she has been selected for this opportunity. Please join me in congratulating her and wishing her much success as she begins this exciting new role at Middlebury.<\/p>\n
