Celebrate the research, internships, and experiential learning of Colorado College students at the annual Research and Internship Symposium<\/a>, part of Family Weekend 2026.<\/p>\n

The symposium brings the CC community together for short oral presentations, poster and story map sessions, and conversations highlighting summer research and internship experiences across a range of academic disciplines.<\/p>\n

The event takes place Friday, Sept. 25, from 3-5 p.m.<\/strong> Oral presentations begin promptly at 3 p.m. in Celeste Theatre, followed by poster and story map presentations from 4-5 p.m. in Cornerstone Main Space.<\/p>\n

The symposium is open to students, staff, and faculty. Save the date and come celebrate the work of CC students!<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Explore the sacred images of New Mexican santeros during \u201cTransforming Images: New Mexican Santos in-between Worlds<\/a>,\u201d a free two-day program at the Fine Arts Center. A panel discussion on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5-6:30 p.m.<\/strong> will examine the spiritual, artistic, and cultural dimensions of these works. On Friday, Sept. 25, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.<\/strong>, art historian Claire Farago will use historical New Mexican Christian religious images to explore the contested interpretation of sacred objects and questions of cultural identity, power, and interpretative privilege. A reception will follow in Smith Family Gallery. <\/p>\n

Christopher Cross has called Monument home for most of his life and has been with Bon App\u00e9tit at Colorado College for almost four years. He now serves as Caf\u00e9 Manager in Worner after roles in catering, Ed Robson Arena, and administration. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking for his roommates and their dog, Lady May, and relaxing at home.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Professor Heidi R. Lewis Leads Successful Intensive Academic Writing Retreat this Summer<\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

This past July, Professor of Feminist & Gender Studies Heidi R. Lewis  hosted \u201cWho\u2019s Afraid of the Big Bad Proposal?: An Intensive Academic Writing Retreat\u201d at CC\u2019s Baca Campus. The retreat was designed to support scholars developing academic book proposals in Women\u2019s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies and related disciplines like Black Studies and Disability Studies. Through writing workshops, independent writing blocks, accountability partnerships, and 1:1 meetings, Professor Lewis supported 15 colleagues from the U.S. and Canada by demystifying the publishing process and helping them develop strong, competitive proposals. <\/p>\n

Continue the conversation surrounding David Mamet\u2019s Oleanna<\/em> at a free talkback and reception on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5-6:30 p.m.<\/strong>, following that day\u2019s 1 p.m. performance.<\/p>\n

Written in 1992 in response to the Anita Hill\u2013Clarence Thomas hearings, Oleanna explores gender, authority, power, and education through increasingly fraught conversations between a university professor and his student. The play asks audiences to consider how assumptions, personal biases, and failures of communication can turn differences into divisions.<\/p>\n

Colorado College President Manya Whitaker will moderate the discussion. Refreshments and light hors d\u2019oeuvres will be served, and talkback attendees may also receive a complimentary ticket to that evening\u2019s performance of Come From Away<\/em>, capacity permitting.<\/p>\n
