Colorado College is near and dear to the hearts of the Norbergs. Doug Norberg ’62 and Nancy Pettit Norberg ’64 are not only alumni, they’re CC parents, volunteers, and donors.
Doug directs several companies, serves on a number of philanthropic organizations, and is a Life Trustee at Colorado College. Nancy is active in Achievement Awards for College Scientists and is a sustaining member of the Junior League. The couple are parents of two CC graduates, Craig and Kristin, who graduated in 1988 and 1991, respectively.
Driven by a passion for increasing financial aid, as a CC trustee, Doug worked to help the college provide access to students from all backgrounds. To support this goal, he and Nancy established the Norberg Scholarship Fund at Colorado College, which funds four scholarships each year.
In their student days, Nancy was a Kappa Alpha Theta, and Doug was a Kappa Sigma, editor of the CC yearbook The Nugget, and a Blue Key Honor Society member. The Norberg family has lived in Seattle since 1975.
CC will recognize the couple’s commitment to the college during Homecoming 2015, when they will be recipients of the Lloyd E. Worner Award. The award recognizes outstanding loyalty, service and generosity to the college as evidenced by continuing concern and support for students and the quality of teaching and learning, as well as the general well-being and future excellence of the institution. These attributes characterized the many years of service and effective contributions of Lloyd E. Worner, Class of 1942, who served as a faculty member, dean and ultimately president of Colorado College (1964-1981).
