Off-pudding playlist

Presented to you by Maisie Moylan and Chloe Jung

There is no such thing as bad music, but there is definitely bad timing. Music can change the entire energy of a space, and sometimes that notification of one acquaintance joining the jam sends a shiver down your spine. Everyone knows a specific tune can make proximity to a person utterly unbearable, and we are here to express precisely what we think those songs are.

To make this playlist, we had to know these songs, so we are NOT saying these are objectively unpleasant, but want you to imagine a couple of settings that might contribute to the off-putting nature of this list.

  1. First date: Your friends set you up on a blind date with their friend. The mysterious prospect offers to pick you up and drive you to the restaurant where you plan to enjoy a meal. They pick you up, and this is what is playing the whole time as they sing along passionately.
  2. Group project: Your randomly assigned groupmate invites you to their apartment to do a group project. As you are settling in, they ask if it’s okay if they play “study music” you regretfully say yes.
  3. Self-grading meeting with professor: I don’t really know what else to say about this one, but damn, that would be uncomfortable
  4. Pre-game: Your friend asks you to go to a pregame that their situationship is hosting. When you get there, there are only 3 other people. Your friend leaves briefly with the boy who is hosting, and you are sitting in a circle with the other 2 people as they talk about and play this music.
  5. Just about anything involving a co worker
