While I remain in disbelief over the break up of Palm, vocalist and guitarist Kasra Krut reunites with Palm’s co guitarist/vocalist and producer to reinvent Kassie Kurt. They have left quite the impression with their new track “Reckless.” Kassie Krut has released a few singles here and there since 2020, however last week’s “Reckless” cements the spelling of their name in our eardrums to reintroduce themselves in delusional confidence. “Reckless” is a promising reincarnation of the group’s talent, awakening the freak that lives inside all of us. They are fully aware of and are alchemizing their power.

Mt Eerie: “I Saw Another Bird”

“There’s another worked inside this world that shines”

This past week, the fabled Phil Elverum has gifted us “I Saw Another Bird,” ahead of Mt. Eerie’s first new album in 6 years. The track continues the explorations of themes such as ravens and synchronicities that have permeated Mt. Eerie’s discography. Mt. Eerie’s music deeply reflects Elverum’s journey through grief, making it a vulnerable and poignant form of expression and processing. At times he is optimistic, while at others, he is exhausted from making sense of the mythological. There is always a raw and honest truth that hides behind each Mt. Eerie track, and in this case, it’s complemented by a satisfying drum beat. Some may say that this is The Glow Pt. 3…

Ela Minus: “BROKEN”

Colombian artist Ela Minus released “BROKEN” from her forthcoming album DIA. Out of all the songs on my list, “BROKEN” is by far the most impressive with its gorgeous synthesizers and air of optimism. The beat is femme, lush, and easy to latch on to; you’ll want to dance and jump around with your friends to this track. Almost too hushed that at points, I find myself giggling thinking “why are you talking like that?” But her lyrics are sweet and at the end of the day, you get exactly what is expected. There’s nothing terribly wrong with what she is doing, but there is also nothing terrible right.

Written by Marina Malin.
