So far in 2026, I have become a Canadian citizen, watched the Red Sox and the Nationals get in a benches clearing brawl, and listened to a lot of great music. Here are my 5 favorite songs so far (no order):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Laundry Day- NEVER MEET YOUR HEROES<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Classic baggy jeans music to walk around to in a well designed urban environment. I love when artists are far enough into their career where they can make a song that encapsulates the journey that took them to where they are. There is a part in this song where lead singer Jude Ciulla-Lipkin vividly describes meeting BROCKHAMPTON and then immediately references High School Musical. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Jesus Dropped the Charges- Safe With Me<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      To find out one of your favorite band\u2019s broke up in an instagram comment section is like finding out on Reddit that your dog died, but all is well when the solo project of said band can produce work that is just as solid. Matt Cox\u2019s newest endeavor sees him playing bingo in your kitchen and discussing his fear of bowling alleys stealing your sneakers, but all is forgiven because evil is safe with him. I love the more lofi (song was recorded on iphone<\/a> ) and techno production on this as opposed to the driving pop-punk anthems of Super American (his old band). I\u2019m really looking forward to his new album, which seems to be set to drop this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Bleachers- upstairs at els<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Similarly to Laundry Day, this track is a sort of summary of the entire story of Bleachers up until this point. It\u2019s a great closer to a great album, that snapped a skid of mid albums from a great band. To see Jack Antonoff lean back into the pop frameworks that got him here in the first place was very refreshing, as he shares anecdotes about working with Lorde and The 1975. This track is perfect for summer 2016 part 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. glaive, kurtains- The Band<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Glaive is at his best when he is fast-paced. Last year\u2019s Y\u2019all <\/em>was missing a track like this. The Band <\/em>sees Glaive dance over an absolutely electric beat, recounting a night out in which his friends sang karaoke- reportedly better than the original artists of the songs they were covering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Bunny Monroe- Skin<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            Gus played drums in my band in high school, but after hearing this I wish I had asked him to sing. Skin <\/em>is a response to Fake Plastic Trees <\/em>with an amazing instrumental and perfect use of bitcrush. It reminds me of my favorite book Oryx and Crake<\/em>. A dystopian landscape with the occasional sign of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
