Actress<\/em><br><em>8. One Night<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A mysterious melody fills my head as I stir, slowly being pulled from sleep. I wake up in a new strange place. Who is this strange bard and what is he telling me? I begin to follow closely behind, I don\u2019t dare get separated from him. At the same time, I can\u2019t trust him. There\u2019s an anger in his voice. He\u2019s singing to me, what is he planning? I don\u2019t understand. Have I done something I can\u2019t recall? Don\u2019t cry, you deserve this. What is going on? Don\u2019t cry, don\u2019t cry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t tell if I\u2019m being watched or watched over. I\u2019m alone and scared. Not scared because I\u2019m alone, but because perhaps I\u2019m not. Every rustle of the leaves, each small breeze that blows by, each creak of the floorboards. There\u2019s something, someone else here. <em>Don\u2019t cry. Don\u2019t scream. It\u2019s just a bad dream\u2026 <\/em>I have to get out of here, wherever here is, and it has to be soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no escape, is there?<em> I have come too far to run\u2026 <\/em>I want to scream for help, but would anyone hear me? <em>My, my, my, what have you done? <\/em>The land is so vast around me, I could walk for ages without the scenery changing much. It\u2019s beautiful, but terrifying at the same time. I want to wake up from this dream, but I\u2019m tossing and turning, nothing is comfortable, nothing is right.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am found in the fields, and brought to his home, somewhere new. For the first time, I feel safe. Calm. A roof above me, warmth, and new feelings replacing the fear I felt before. I am being watched over. I can close my eyes peacefully now. Right? <em>Now you\u2019re a river in me, you\u2019re in my bones, I want to swim to the sea, under the phosphorus light\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I awake indoors. Comforting. It doesn\u2019t last long though. The cold creeps back in, followed by the darkness, and then the deal. <em>Honest work for an honest reward.<\/em> Is this something I can believe? I don\u2019t know what I can believe anymore. Hours ago, I felt safe for the first time in days. Now? <em>That\u2019s all I\u2019m asking for. One million years. <\/em>I can\u2019t just sit here, but what choice do I have. There is nowhere to go from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t want to live out a lifetime here. I barely knew what it was before I woke up in this nightmare land. <em>Blink and you\u2019ll miss it<\/em>. I have to do something, I can\u2019t just take this. I have to get out of here. I need a plan. I sit and think about this all.<em> Breath, breath, breath is the beginning\u2026 <\/em>This place is a nightmare and I have to wake myself up from it<em>. Of feeling, of living. <\/em>I know what I have to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m just like you. Living in this nightmare\u2014<em>no<\/em>\u2014this dream. It\u2019s unnerving, walking around, pretending this is all normal and I like it here. <em>You\u2019re holding in the fire, I\u2019ve been putting out the flames.<\/em> How do you appear to be comfortable when you\u2019re crawling out of your skin? Pretending to be someone else. Fitting in to get the hell out of here..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You were not the man I took you for\u2026 <\/em>I figured you out and woke up from this nightmare.
