RM200 Introduction to Asian American Studies (Block 8, Social Inequality pending)

This course will give students an introduction into the diverse cultures which have sprung from the Asian diaspora to the Americas from the earliest Filipino slaves in the 1500s to contemporary Asian America indie rock musicians using art to dive into issues of identity. Through studying historical topics such as Chinese Exclusion, Japanese Internment, Vietnamese refugees and more, we will deal with issues which flood our newsfeeds today.

Taught by visiting faculty Julian Saporiti.
