RM300/SO290 — Race, Gender, & Crime: Intersections of Injustice
Using first-hand accounts, films, scholarship, and literature, this course examines the dynamics between intersectional identities and the criminal justice system. We address the disproportionate victimization and criminalization of brown and black people. We also challenge common perceptions about criminal behavior patterns. For their final project, students address public policy issues and recommend changes to the criminal justice system. COI will be given to the first 15 students.
