Lauren Watel ’07 was a featured speaker alongside U.S. Representative and CC Honorary Trustee Diana DeGette ’79, P’16,at the Aug. 30 groundbreaking event for the third location of Warren Village in Denver, an affordable housing community focused on helping low-income, single-parent families make the journey from poverty to self-sufficiency. Watel and Rep. DeGette took part in the groundbreaking due to the numerous avenues and funding partners that have worked together to fund this affordable housing building for unhoused single parents. Rep. DeGette advocated for the procurement of federal funds, and The Schlessman Family Foundation, of which Watel is President, supported the project with a capital grant.

Warren Village is led by Executive Director Ethan Hemming ’92, who has been working to advance and expand the organization’s mission to empower single-parent families toward self-sufficiency.
