Justin “Chester” White ’15 was honored with the Corporate Leadership Award from the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice at the Institute’s INVEST Gala on Oct. 11. The Institute, led by President and CEO Ryan Haygood ’97, uses cutting-edge racial and social justice advocacy to empower people of color by building reparative systems that create wealth, transform justice, and harness democratic power. Lauren Watel ’07 was a featured speaker alongside U.S. Representative and CC Honorary Trustee Diana DeGette ’79, P’16,at the Aug. 30 groundbreaking event for the third location of Warren Village in Denver, an affordable housing community focused on helping low-income, single-parent families make the journey from poverty to self-sufficiency. Watel and Rep. DeGette took part in the groundbreaking due to the numerous avenues and funding partners that have worked together to fund this affordable housing building for unhoused single parents.
