Arthur Carhart: Wilderness Prophet
This is the first biography of landscape architect and recreation planner Arthur Carhart, co-father, along with Aldo Leopold, of the idea of wilderness. Carhart (1892–1978) never won the status or recognition Leopold achieved, in part because he was a political maverick who refused to side with any major advocacy group. The book highlights Carhart’s vision of conservation as “a job for all of us.”
