by Debby Dahl Edwardson ’74
Set in a little-known part of Arctic Alaska, this young-adult book tells the multigenerational tale of an Iñupiaq family torn apart by tragedy and reunited by the power of story and tradition. The book was selected by the Junior Library Guild as a book of the month and by the ALAN Online (Assembly on Literature for Adolescents). Edwardson, who has lived in Barrow, Alaska’s northernmost community, for more than 30 years, currently works for Ilisagvik College, Alaska’s only tribal college.
