President Jill Tiefenthaler has announced that enough commitments to create the Bill Barton Professorship in Economics and Business have been received to make it a reality.
Economics and Business Professor Judy Laux ’77, a former student of Barton’s, says, “Bill demonstrated an unbridled enthusiasm for teaching that never wavered in his 39 years at Colorado College. That so many of his students went on to become successful business leaders, CPAs, and practicing accountants demonstrates just how successful he was in that endeavor.”
The principal commitment to the Barton Professorship was made by Andy Stenovec ’85. Dozens of others, including former students, colleagues, and parents who recognized the important investment Bill made in his students joined with Stenovec to make their own investments in his honor. Details on the professorship, and plans for celebration will be announced this fall.
