CC’s Sense of Place trips are a field series exploring the cultural, natural, and historic features of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region.
The series provides students, faculty, and staff with “backstage access” to and critical examination of some features of the college’s unique location that often go overlooked. “We believe this examination is a critical skill to provide grounded belonging in a world where mobility is one defining factor of the current generation,” says Sustainability Director Ian Johnson. Among the trips occurring in the 2015-16 academic year are:
- Birding at Pinello Ranch
- Native American History Walk
- Water Tour with Colorado Springs Utilities
- Waste Material Recovery Facility
- Martin Drake Power Plant Tour
- Not Your Average Ski Trip: Recreation Economies of Colorado
- Venetucci Farms Volunteer Day
- Ludlow Massacre Site Visit
