An event titled “A Conversation with Ta-Nehisi Coates” was just that, as renowned author Coates (above and below right), participated in a discussion facilitated by Michael Sawyer, assistant professor in race, ethnicity, and migration studies and English, and chair of the Africana Intellectual Project. Coates discussed his experiences in journalism, growing up in Baltimore, and working on Marvel comics “Captain America” and “The Black Panther.” He opened the event, held in late March, by reading an excerpt from his book, “Between the World and Me,” which won the 2015 National Book Award.
The Journalism Institute at Colorado College sponsored the event.
