Liz Labadie ’79 (far right in this group photo, in the Starbucks jersey) has realized a longstanding dream of riding her bike across the United States. In summer 2008, she joined 36 other cyclists in Seattle on the American Lung Association’s 2008 Big Ride. The group pedaled an average of 85 miles each day, enjoying layover days every five to six days, and reached Washington, D.C., seven weeks later. Liz maintained a blog during the 3,300-mile journey. See it at http://ealabadie.blogspot.com. She says her husband, David Frum ’81, provided encouragement during training, the ride, and the transition back to post-ride life. He visited her in Rapid City, S.D., and at the finish line.
