Enga Returns to CC

  R.J. Enga ’95, who played in 158 games as a Tiger and served as an assistant coach during the 2008-09 campaign, became the first member of Mike Haviland’s coaching staff on June 16. Enga’s on-ice responsibilities will include working with the forwards and power play unit. He’ll also be heavily involved in the program’s recruiting efforts. Enga struck for 61 goals and added 82 assists during his four seasons at CC. The right winger still is tied for 37th place on the program’s all-time point list with Clare Smith (1953-56). Colorado Springs Applauds CC Artists

Andy Tirado, 3D arts supervisor for CC’s Art Department, Visiting Art Professor Jean Gumpper, and Colorado Springs artist Eric Bransby ’47 have been recognized as leading artists in the region. “Lacuna,” a sculpture by Tirado, was selected for the 2014-2015 Art on the Streets juried sculpture exhibition and went on to win the $10,000 Juror’s Award. Tirado’s piece, a 13-foot-long arm weighing more than 400 pounds, is suspended in the Plaza of the Rockies in downtown Colorado Springs, where it will be on display through May 2015. Smith Named Director of Parent and Family Giving

Roger Smith first came to Colorado College during the summer of 2008. He served as the director of the Office of Minority and International Students (OMIS) before stepping into his new role as director of parent and family giving, based in CC’s advancement division. Smith was born in Saint Albert, Alberta, Canada, and, after working for a global nonprofit based in Denver, he “fell in love with the region and wanted to come back.” Smith and his three kids, ages 9, 6, and 4, enjoy hiking in the mountains with their golden retriever, Buddy, every weekend. Zarecky Takes on Leadership of Parent and Family Relations

Hardly a newcomer to Colorado College, Debra Zarecky started at CC in 2005 as the office coordinator in the Dean of Students Office. After a short stint managing the Chaplain’s Office last year, Zarecky is now the director of parent and family relations. A graduate of Allegheny College, a small liberal arts school, Zarecky moved to Colorado Springs from Pittsburgh. Buckley to Lead Butler Center

Paul Buckley has been hired as the college’s inaugural assistant vice president/director of the Butler Center. He will provide vision and leadership designed to advance and support issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity for the campus community. As a member of the Student Life division, he will work with the Dean’s Office to create student-centered policies and uphold the college’s core value of diversity. Buckley comes to CC from Dartmouth College, where he served as assistant dean of undergraduate students.
