Peak Profile: John Chalik ’67, Monica Linzner ’07, and Katherine Bell ’08
Thanksgiving of her junior year, Katherine Bell ’08 returned from CC to a flock of chickens in her family’s front yard, a rented chicken scalder, and a mother who needed a hand. “It was the first time I’d ever killed something,” she said. The experience was a turning point for Bell, who had been a vegetarian for eight years. Little did she know those few quick thrusts of a knife would lead to a job. Peak Profile: Doug Pray '83
Doug Pray ’83 has spent most of his professional life exploring worlds unknown to him. A documentary filmmaker, Doug looks through the camera’s eye to delve into American subcultures — long-haul truck drivers, graffiti artists, hiphop DJs, and musicians. In his most recent film, “Art & Copy,” which opened last summer, he examines the culture of advertising and creativity. Doug didn’t arrive at Colorado College with a film career in mind. “While I was at CC, I began to get excited about different media and entertainment and got heavily involved in activities like The Catalyst, KRCC, and a small but dynamic music scene on campus,” he says. Doug was majoring…Read more

Greetings and Thanks to our Fifty Year Club Members!
At this point in life, we sometimes get the feeling that we are survivors, don’t we? But the sturdiest group of all may be those members of the Class of 1959 who were inducted into the Fifty Year Club last October. They were also treated to the coldest temperatures in Homecoming and Parents Weekend history! They trudged through it all in great spirits, though, and we’re happy to have them as our newest members. We look forward to welcoming the Class of 1960 this October and hope for bright sunshine and a big turnout. The alumni office has prepared some highlights from the recent Fifty Year Club Survey. As I…Read more
