Pizza & Face Swapping

It’s the end of Block 6 and we are celebrating “all’italiana”!

It’s officially a tradition: pizza marks the end of all the students’ efforts 😉 Ben fatto!

Some students also had the brilliant idea to use their Snapchat to make a dream come true and swap their face with Dario’s. I also attempted a makeover which turned out really well! To see the marvelous outcomes of both experiments, check our Facebook group 🙂

Finally, the students got to present their awesome short movies (inspired by “Buongiorno” ) in the Max Kade Theater. All of them proved their Italian is already very good and they definitely have a future as actors/directors!

Enjoy the well-deserved break ragazzi, buone vacanze!

Ravioli, Ravioli, Ravioli!

Do you think it’s difficult to make fresh Ravioli?

Gino Bartali

Ciao a tutti,

I hope you enjoyed the snacks and the movie!

my_italian_secret

I was happy to see students involved in the Italian program and the friends of the Italian house together again.

Gino Bartali or “Ginetaccio”, as he was called (for my students or those familiar with the Italian suffixes, the meaning should be clear) is the protagonist of the documentary that we screened yesterday.

He is a really national hero in two ways: as sport man (having won the Giro d’Italia three times  and the Tour the France twice) and because he was recognized as a “Righteous Among the Nations” by Yad Vashem for his efforts to aid Jews during the second world war.

If you want more information about him, here, you can find an entire radio episode about him.

Also, there is a nice song about him by Paolo ConteDo you want hear it?

Gnocchi Masterchefs!

Last night was all about learning the “gnocchi technique” while having fun!

Antonio and Marsha were great instructors for our students, residents and community members – and they were great Mazurka dancers, too!

Now we know how to make tasty gnocchi and how to impress everyone at the next family dinner 😉

Grazie to all those who came and participated and GRAZIE MILLE Antonio & Marsha!

How to make-page-001

This Wednesday (Feb. 3) at 6 pm, come learn from Antonio (a.k.a. “Re Gnocco”) all the secrets of the perfect gnocchi! Not only will we make them – and obviously eat them – but we will also FINALLY learn how to correctly pronounce one of the trickiest Italian words 😉

Time to start correcting your friends when they mispronounce the “gn” or the “ch”… And of course, time to cook with us!

PLEASE / PER FAVORE: RSVP NEEDED by Monday!
