Prepare for High Wind Warning

The Colorado College campus will be under a high wind warning starting today, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m., with hazardous conditions possible from 2 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2 until Friday afternoon. Campus may experience wind gusts up to 75 mph with isolated gusts to 100 mph possible.

Before the storm moves in:

  • Make sure your windows are closed and locked to prevent damage.
  • Secure exterior furniture, flags, or light weight items to prevent injury.

Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Our Incident Management Team is monitoring the conditions and will make an announcement on limited-service operations in the morning if needed.

In the event the college moves to limited-service operations, the campus community will receive notification from the RAVE emergency messaging system via email, text, and voice messages. Employees should consider their safety in determining when, or if, to report to work and communicate their availability to their supervisors. View the Severe Weather Policy.

With high winds predicted, if you see or experience unsafe conditions on campus alert Facilities Services of the issue as soon as possible: Before 5 p.m. at (719) 389-6981; after 5 p.m. contact Campus Safety at (719) 389-6911.
