Looking Forward to Working Together

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I am excited to join the CC community as the new Assistant Vice President for Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator. I come to CC after having spent over a decade conducting employment and housing discrimination cases for the State of Utah Labor Commission before moving to Salt Lake Community College in May 2020 to be their inaugural Title IX Coordinator/EO Director. In my role at SLCC, I had the opportunity to work with the community to address the concerns related to civil rights and Title IX, improving the interaction with the community and the Title IX/Civil Rights office.

Along with Josh Isringhausen, Assistant Director for Civil Rights and Deputy Title IX Coordinator, I will lead CC’s Office for Civil Rights and Title IX. Our office is a resource for addressing concerns related to discrimination, harassment, dating/domestic violence, stalking, and sexual misconduct, including retaliation. I am looking forward to continuing the growth of our anti-racist community and helping further create an environment where all members of the community are safe, supported, and able to thrive.

In pursuit of these goals, and in response to the recent uptick in anti-Semitic and anti-Islamic threats on campuses across the country, CC will be offering training on these subjects:

  • Monday, December 11, at 3:30 p.m., please join an antisemitism training webinar with Kirsten Fermaglich,  Professor of History and Jewish Studies at Michigan State University. Register in advance.
  • Tuesday, December 12, at 3 p.m., please join an Islamophobia training webinar with Amer Ahmed, Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Vermont. Register in advance.

A gentle reminder to our community that college employees who are not identified as confidential resources are mandated reporters. You can learn more about what this means and how to find confidential resources on our website.

Kind regards,

David Jensen

Assistant Vice President for Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator
