Campus Safety to Test RAVE Notification System

SAFETY NOTICE

Colorado College has been made aware of the possible use of an unknown substance being placed into beverages without the knowledge and consent of the recipients. This Safety Notice is being issued to provide support and prevention information.

If you believe that you may have consumed a spiked drink, seek medical help immediately by either calling 911, Campus Safety, or go to the nearest emergency room.

Safety Tips: We share this information to try to reduce risks and enhance community safety, with no intent to blame victims/survivors. The individuals who cause harm are the only ones responsible.

  • If you feel more intoxicated/drunk than you think you should be, tell someone you trust and get help immediately.
  • Do not accept drinks from people you don’t know.
  • If someone offers to buy/get you a drink, go with them. Watch the drink being poured and carry it yourself.
  • Beware of drinks from common sources like punch bowls or containers that you did not open yourself.
  • Open your drink yourself and don’t leave it unattended.
  • If a drink tastes or smells unusual, stop drinking it and pour it out.
  • Watch out for each other—look out for your friends and ask them to look out for you.
  • Get support even if you can’t remember exactly what happened.
