Institutional Equity and Belonging Division Expands to Include Key Student Support Offices The College has reimagined the Institutional Equity and Belonging (IEB) division to serve the entire campus, now led by cabinet-level College Diversity Officer Rosalie Rodriguez. Since stepping into the role in July 2024, Rosalie has guided CC in adopting a cohesive, institution-wide approach that embeds equity into all aspects of operations while aligning programs and resources for greater impact.
Beginning this fall, International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), The Butler Center, and the Elder-in-Residence program will join IEB. This transition reflects national trends that integrate international and multicultural work with IEB to better address the needs of our diverse campus community.
Office for Civil Rights Realigned Under Administrative Services The Office for Civil Rights & Title IX has transitioned from the Dean of the College/COO portfolio to Administrative Services, under the College’s legal affairs arm. The AVP for Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator now reports directly to the VP for Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
This shift better aligns the Office of Civil Rights with the College’s legal and compliance functions, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of federal and state regulations.
Esports has moved to the Division of Athletics and Recreation As a SCAC sponsored championship, CC Esports will transition to live within the division of Athletics and Recreation. Chad Schonewill will continue to work closely with the program along with leadership from Chris Starr, Director of Recreation and Fitness Center, and Chris Brown, Associate Athletic Director. The move will provide benefits to the Esports program by sharing divisional management and structuring space with other student activity programs with opportunities in areas such as policy and governance development.

Space Governance Operational Group (SGOG)
Campus space is a shared institutional asset. Spaces are allocated to departments and divisions to support their contributions to the College’s mission. Historically, some departments/divisions have managed spaces independently. The College is working towards understanding space as a shared institutional asset. Space is not owned by any single unit and may be reallocated in response to evolving departmental needs, shifting institutional priorities, or mission-aligned initiatives.
In some cases, building managers oversee specific facilities to help coordinate space usage and reservations, collaborate with building occupants on policy development, and support operational logistics such as building access and hours. This work is valued and will be considered as we continue to think about space as a shared institutional asset.
Space Request Process Pilot To support greater transparency and coordination in how space decisions are made, the SGOG has developed a new space request process that is being piloted this academic year. This process is designed to ensure that requests for space align with institutional priorities, promote efficient use of shared resources, and are reviewed through a consistent and collaborative framework.
The first review window has been extended to the last day of Block 2. These review windows will allow the SGOG to assess requests within the context of broader institutional planning cycles. They will also support the development of criteria for prioritizing, approving, deferring, or denying requests. Requests may be submitted at any time, but formal reviews will occur twice annually:
Fall Review (Block 2):
|
- Submission Deadline: Last day of Block 1
- Response Provided By: End of Block 2
- For the pilot year (Fall 2025), the first review cycle deadline will be extended to the last day of Block 2 (Wednesday, Oct. 15), with responses provided by the end of Block 3.
|
- Submission Deadline: Last day of Block 5 (Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026)
- Response Provided By: End of Block 6

The Incident Management Team (IMT)
The IMT prepares, plans, and responds to any emergency impacting campus. CC will be participating in an emergency exercise with partners from Common Spirit Health, Colorado Springs Police Department, and Colorado Springs Fire Department on Tuesday, Sep. 30, starting at 8 a.m. The exercise will allow local emergency responders to work together on a mock disaster scenario. This exercise will include nursing students with moulage (simulated injuries) acting as patients.
What can campus expect? There will be emergency responders and their vehicles on campus. There will be actors with simulated injuries. Portions of campus will have limited access to allow for the exercise.
College Events Operational Group (CEOG) – Events over 100 people
The CEOG has reviewed event submissions for the 2025–26 Academic Year and identified space discrepancies and/or conflicts. These events were submitted by departments via Momentus between January and March 2025.
If your department is planning an event with more than 100 attendees, you must request approval from the CEOG before making a reservation. The operational group meets the first Wednesday of the month, so please submit events in enough time for approval.
For questions, please email Brenda Soto.

A reminder that the 30-day comment period for policies under review will take place in Block 3. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during the 30-day policy review period. The next review period will be in Block 7. If you have a college policy up for review, please connect with your cabinet leader.
Posting Policy Update A new Venue Managers webpage was created to make it easier to see where and how to post flyers across campus. Nothing in the Distribution of Printed Materials & Solicitation policy has changed. This page simply brings all venue manager information together in one clear place, so you do not have to guess about locations or approval steps. The page is based on information provided directly by venue managers, so it accurately reflects the current process in each space.
You can find the new page linked from the Distribution of Printed Materials & Solicitation webpage under Venue Manager.
