Students: Test Once this Week

Dear Students,

Thank you for continuing to participate in our ongoing COVID-19 screening testing program.

Screening testing helps to prevent large outbreaks by breaking chains of infection. Based on test results from weeks 1 and 2 of this block, frequency of testing has been adjusted for fully vaccinated students.

All fully vaccinated students should test once in week 3 of Block 7. Students who are not fully vaccinated continue testing twice weekly. Fully vaccinated students will receive an email notification on Wednesday and should take a COVID test with eMed between Wednesday and Friday. It is important to take your test through eMed because eMed handles the required reporting of test results to the health department.

Based on these test results, frequency of screening testing will be further adjusted as needed. We appreciate you taking part in this important part of our COVID-19 risk mitigation plan.

Sincerely,

Andrea Bruder
Chief Public Health Advisor to the President

Mateo Muñoz
Chair, COVID-19 Policy and Implementation Committee

Celebrate Division III Week

Wrapping Up Division III Week

Thanks for helping celebrate CC’s student-athletes.
I appreciate your attention this week; hopefully you had the chance to learn a bit more about Division III and our student-athletes. If you missed one of our features, or you’d like to revisit some of the student-athletes you met this week, check out CCTigers.com for the full listing.

Here’s our final pair of student-athletes:

ID: Caucasian woman with long straight brown hair wearing long sleeved white Colorado College #17 jersey with black stripes down the arms, sepia image of same woman playing volleyball in blac jersey, black shorts and knee pads, words say Kellie Hopper Women's Volleyball
First-Year
Major: Psychology
Top CC Academic Moment/Accomplishment: Getting As in my first two blocks (FYP). I was nervous about adjusting to the Block Plan and college in general, but was able to manage everything super well, and honestly enjoyed the classes. Overall, both classes ended in a great result!
Special Talent/Skills: I play the piano, sing, and write songs. I started this when I was in elementary school when my mom gifted me a songwriting book for Valentine’s Day, after which I started taking piano and voice lessons. Ever since then I have loved music and continue to play piano and write songs.
Hobbies: I love spending time with my family and dog, Moose, as well as going on hikes and watching movies.
Proudest Moment at CC: Getting to play in my first NCAA tournament was a moment I will never forget as a volleyball player and is something that I am super proud of this year.
Community Service Experience: I volunteered to lead a bible study at church for adults with disabilities. I did this throughout middle school and high school with my family. Recently, in my Block 2 class we worked with an organization called Showers For All, in Denver, which provides showers to the homeless. Our class helped with the logistical sides of the organization and worked with the CEO so the website and other outreach avenues could be improved.

ID: african american man with medium length hair white Colorado College basketball tank top with 15 and black Nike swoosh, sepia image of same man seated looking up with a basketball in his hands, words that say Devin Philio Men's Basketball
First-Year
Major: Economics
Top CC Academic Moments: I took Christianity for Block 3 and my final paper was about how the development of early Black churches initiated the fire that would grow into the abolitionist movement. This paper was one of my top moments because I took it home and read it to my parents and we talked about it. I was proud because I was able to write about something important to me.
Special Talents/Skills: I’m above average at chess.
Hobbies: Basketball and spending time with friends.
Proudest moment at CC: My first basketball game that I started in. I never started until our third-to-last game and didn’t know if I would until our Assistant Coach Adams told me I would and encouraged me to take advantage of the opportunity. It meant a lot because it showed me the work I had put in throughout the season and before I came to CC was for a reason and to have a little taste of success fuels me.
Community Service Experience: I enjoy doing the freerice.com questions because it is so simple, yet it helps people who really need it. All you do is answer multiple-choice questions online; every correct answer results in a grain of rice being donated to someone in need. If everyone did it for 30 minutes a day the amount of food donated would be unbelievable.
