TRY USING AN ADEI TIP OF THE MONTH…

Using software programs like NameCoach is a great way to cultivate community! These types of tools help to decrease cross-cultural apprehension that stems from fear of stepping outside of our comfort zone. Pronouncing and spelling someone’s name correctly demonstrates our shared commitment to inclusion and belonging.

ADEI in Action!
ADEI, in action, is all about illuminating the remarkable ways the campus community is engaging in this work, providing a platform to highlight the diverse cross-campus contributions as we embrace our institutional antiracist identity!
The first ADEI in Action highlights captures a diverse group of CC staff and students attending the 2023 annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) conference, learning and engaging in workshops, activities, and discussions to build capacity while cultivating community. Most of the staff displayed here were able to bring what they learned back to CC co-facilitating workshops at this year’s fall conference, where we also revealed our new ADEI strategic plan.

September 2023 People Connections – Human Resources Newsletter

This month’s newsletter includes updates on recruitment selection and onboarding, a potential change to the Cigna network, and tips for student loans.

Updates to Talent Acquisition Process

One of the strategic objectives for the Human Resources team is to improve our people processes to reflect our commitment to being an antiracist institution and center the employee experience in our process design. With this in mind, we have updated our Talent Acquisition processes to reflect evidence-based strategies for creating more equitable search practices and enhanced support for individuals involved in a search. Please see the process map below to get a sense of some of the changes to search practices.

Flow chart of the search support map

Cigna Network Update

While the Cigna-Optum contract terminated September 12, the two parties have agreed to continue negotiations until September 29.  Optum providers will remain in-network until at least September 29.  We will update you as soon as we know the outcome of those extended negotiations.

Do You Have Student Loan Debt? Do You Know About These Two Programs?

Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan may significantly decrease monthly payments.  It is a revamped income-driven repayment program that calculates payment amounts based on income and family size.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program
(PSLF) is a federal program designed to reduce student loan debt for people who work in public service.

Job Feature

Do you know someone who has a passion for helping others? An Assistant Director of Student Employment position within the Financial Aid Office is open at Colorado College. This person manages the success of the CC student employment program and serves as a compliance officer, human resources manager, and IT support for student employment program stakeholders encompassing roughly 1000 student employees, 150 timesheet approvers and supervisors, and 200 student positions. See this posting and more on the CC Careers website and please share with anyone who might be interested.
