Updates to Compensation and Benefits

Dear CC Community, 


Thank you to everyone who participated in our In the Loop meeting today. For those of you who couldn’t attend, here is an update on announcements related to pay and benefits.
COMPENSATION:
After hearing input from employees, the Compensation Committee, and the Budget Committee, we will make pay decisions that are a little different this merit cycle. A large portion of the funding available for pay increases this year will be applied to employees in the lower pay bands.
All staff employees in pay bands 1-6 who “meet expectations” on their performance review will receive a minimum 2.5% pay increase on July 1. If that increase does not bring their pay to the levels noted below, they will receive an additional increase to get them to the minimum pay noted:
  • Bands 1-2: $17/hour
  • Band 3: $18/hour
  • Band 4: $19.25/hour
  • Band 5: $22/hour
  • Band 6: $24.50/hour
This will cause some compression between newer employees and those who have worked for the college for a while. We have set aside some funding to address compression between employees hired in 2019 and earlier.
Staff employees in pay bands 7 and higher who “meet expectations” and were hired before May 1, 2022 will receive a 2% increase on July 1.
We will set a new minimum for Occasional/On Call employees of $15/hour. Any OC employees not already making $15/hour will receive a compensation increase to this new minimum on July 1. 
No funding will be allocated this year for extraordinary performance increases. 
For this one year, all employees hired before May 1, 2022 who “meet expectations” on their performance reviews will be eligible for the merit increase.
Please remember to turn in all completed performance reviews by May 1. They may be sent to ccperformance@coloradocollege.edu.
BENEFITS
Medical costs have increased, so premiums for medical coverage will increase. The college pays 80% of the employee and dependent cost for medical coverage so the bulk of the increase will be borne by the college. The employee share for medical will increase $10.34/month ($5.17/pay period) for an employee with employee-only coverage and $29.48/month ($14.74/pay period) for an employee with family coverage.  
The cost for dental, vision, and other benefits will remain the same for 2022-23.  
In addition to Fall and Winter Break, for 2022-23, benefits-eligible employees will receive three days of paid “Spring Break” leave. See the 2022-23 administrative calendar at this link.

Have you taken the racial climate survey? It’s open until April 26. Look for an email about the National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates 
from helpdesk@nacccsurvey.org on Wednesday, April 13, or Monday April 18, and click the link inside to participate. All benefits-eligible staff hired prior to March 1, 2022, can participate.
This survey is conducted by the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center and Colorado College is not given any information in a way that would enable them to trace answers back to a specific person, even if you are part of a small demographic group. Commencement 2022 Celebrations are Just a Month Away!

Commencement celebrations are just a month away!

It’s hard to believe, but our seniors are in their final few weeks at Colorado College! Commencement is set for Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., in Ed Robson Arena.
As we head into the final block of the academic year, and the flurry of year-end activity that comes with it, here is the need-to-know Commencement information for the campus community:
Honors Convocation: May 10
Save the Date for Honors Convocation, Tuesday, May 10, at 11 a.m. in Celeste Theatre. This annual event celebrates outstanding students, faculty members, and staff, and includes the bestowing of departmental awards, all-college awards, and awards from the CC Student Government Association. All students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend on a first come, first served basis. This event will also be livestreamed at coloradocollege.edu/live.
Volunteers Needed
We’re in need of faculty, staff, and student volunteers to support Commencement events. Serving as a volunteer gets you access to Ed Robson Arena for the ceremony, even if you’re not a ticketed guest of a graduate (and for current students, volunteering allows you to stay on campus for a few more days) Email Nichole Sandoval at nsandoval@coloradocollege.edu for more information and specific opportunities.
Faculty Registration
Faculty members must register in advance to march in Commencement 2022 events, including Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate, and the Commencement ceremony. Click here to register.
Ticket Information
Seniors who have applied to graduate will receive an email with instructions for how to claim tickets for all Commencement weekend events through Ticketmaster beginning Monday, May 2, 2022. Tickets are not first-come, first-served, but they are required for guest entry to the following events:
  • Commencement Ceremony, May 22, 8:30 a.m., Ed Robson Arena: Seven tickets per student (five seated, two standing room)
  • Baccalaureate, May 21, 3 p.m., Ed Robson Arena: Seven tickets per student (five seated, two standing room)
  • Class Celebration, May 20, 8 p.m., Antlers Hotel: One free ticket per graduate, plus unlimited guest tickets for family and friends available for purchase ($25/person). Free shuttles available to/from campus. 
Livestream Information
For family, friends, and members of the campus community who are not attending Commencement or Baccalaureate in-person, both ceremonies — as well as Honors Convocation — will be livestreamed at coloradocollege.edu/commencement.
Parking, Accessibility, and Guest Services
  • All Commencement attendees may park anywhere on campus (no fees or permits apply), except the first floor of the Ed Robson Arena parking garage on East Dale St., which is reserved as accessible parking.
  • The first floor of the Ed Robson Arena parking garage is reserved as accessible parking for individuals with limited mobility.
  • Sign language interpreters will be onstage and visible from the jumbotron in Ed Robson Arena. Guests may also view captions on their mobile devices by pulling up the livestream at coloradocollege.edu/commencement.
  • American Medical Response will be located at Guest Services in the arena.
Additional Commencement weekend festivities include:
  • President’s Reception: Immediately following the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 22, on Tava Quad
  • Departmental Receptions: Please check the Commencement website for dates, times, and locations of all department-specific receptions, which take place immediately following Baccalaureate on May 21. Invitations are sent from each department.
Baccalaureate Blessings
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to share their well wishes and words of celebration for graduates as part of this special Colorado College tradition. Together, these messages form a communal blessing, sharing both individual and collective love, blessing, and hope for the graduates as they journey forth from Colorado College. This year, Baccalaureate Blessings are once again happening digitally, and submitted messages will be displayed on the jumbotron in Ed Robson Arena during Baccalaureate on May 21, as well as online. Click here for instructions and ideas for how to submit a message. If you have questions about the program, please contact the Chaplain’s Office.
Final event details and reminders will be shared via email one week prior to Commencement. In the meantime, you can find the full weekend schedule and the most up-to-date information at coloradocollege.edu/commencement. We look forward to honoring our seniors and their accomplishments!

Students: Screening Testing Resumes After Block Break

Dear Students, 


Thank you for continuing to participate in screening testing. Given the relatively low case numbers on campus and in the county, fully vaccinated students do not need to test this week. Students who are not fully vaccinated should continue testing twice weekly.
All students are required to participate in Block 8 initial testing after block break; please look for an email notification on Sunday and take a COVID test with eMed on Sunday, April 24, or Monday, April 25. ​It’s important to test with eMed as they are handling all the required reporting to the local health department. 
As always, if you have symptoms, even if they are mild, please get tested.
