Introducing Our New Chief of Staff

Dear CC Community,

I’m pleased to announce that I have hired Samilja Heim as Chief of Staff, taking on my responsibilities in this area as I move into the interim presidency. Sam will serve as a key partner and advisor in the President’s office, providing analysis and recommendations to advance the college’s strategic priorities.

Sam has been at CC for six years, most recently in Advancement as Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, and prior to that, as Director of Development for the FAC. She also spent time in the President’s office as an executive assistant and project manager, supporting former Senior Vice President Mike Edmonds and me.

As Chief of Staff, Sam will work closely with me, the Cabinet, and colleagues across campus on a variety of cross-divisional and executive initiatives. She will be my principal aide in managing sensitive and confidential issues; manage high-priority projects in alignment with our vision and key objectives; and ensure consistent communication with stakeholders, including developing strategic partnerships with external audiences.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to serve CC in this role. I look forward to working with the campus and community more broadly, and I’m proud to support President Whitaker alongside our fantastic President’s Office staff,” Sam says.

Sam comes to this role with 20 years of administrative experience across the Pikes Peak Region. She started her career in public involvement for the Colorado Department of Transportation and in project management for the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. She then moved into fundraising, serving as Development Director for multiple social service nonprofits including TESSA and Safe Passage before coming to CC. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival.

Sam starts her Chief of Staff role on May 6. The CC community can reach her at sheim@coloradocollege.edu, and once she begins her new role, at chiefofstaff@coloradocollege.edu. Please join me in congratulating Sam and welcoming her to the President’s office!

Warmly,

Manya Whitaker

Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff
Interim President-Elect
