CC WELCOMES NEW CULTURAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR FROM JAPAN

Nozomi Hashimoto, the 2023-24 Japanese Cultural Program Coordinator (CPC) was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Before coming to CC, she earned her bachelor’s degree in language education with a minor in psychology, and specialized in education for her master’s degree at International Christian University. GAYLORD PRIZE RECIPIENT’S SUMMER RESEARCH IN CHINA

In the past summer I traveled to Chengdu, China, my home, to conduct field research with funding from the Asian Studies Program’s Gaylord Prize for Independent Study Research. The project examines representations of the Korean War in lian huan hua (连环画), a particular form of Chinese comic books widely produced and circulated in socialist China. Continue reading


CALL FOR STUDENT PAPERS FOR SCHOLARS OF ASIAN STUDIES, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SHARE YOUR WORK!

ASIANetwork is inviting undergraduate students from member institutions to submit papers for the Marianna McJimsey Award, which recognizes undergraduate student research dealing with Asia.

A consortium of over 140 North American colleges, ASIANetwork strives to strengthen the role of Asian Studies within the framework of liberal arts education to help prepare succeeding generations of undergraduates for a world in which Asian societies play prominent roles in an ever more interdependent world.

The deadline for submission is January 15, 2024.

The winner and one or two runners-up receive invitations and funding to present their work at the Annual Conference, and the winning paper is published in ASIANetwork Exchange.
