Kat Bradley-Bennett was the recipient of the Mountain and Plains Adult Education Association’s 2015 Award of Excellence for Colorado. The award was presented at the group’s conference in association with the Commission on Adult Basic Education and the Colorado Adult Education Professional Association. Mountain and Plains Adult Education Association is a coalition of nine western states that promotes education and life-long learning. Kat received her bachelor’s in music from CC and her master’s in adult education and training from Colorado State University in 2014. She lives in Longmont, Colorado.

1977

Lisa S. Thomason was elected president of the Colorado Chapter of the Division for Early Childhood in August 2014. She earned her master’s degree in education from Colorado State University in 2008 and her board certification as a behavior analyst (BCBA) from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2013. She lives with her family near Ridgway, Colorado, where she is prevention programs manager for Voyager Youth Program, contracts for Firefly Autism, and consults for Early Intervention Colorado.

1978

Alan Prendergast ’78

Alan Prendergast was awarded the 2015 Eugene S. Pulliam National Journalism Writing Award by Ball State University. His article, “Bloody Ludlow,” which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the worst labor conflict in American history, was the cover story in the April 14, 2014 issue of Westword, a Denver newspaper. Alan has taught courses for the journalism minor at CC for more than a decade, with recent courses alternating between Magazine Writing and Literary Journalism.

1979

Michael J. Crossey, M.D., has been appointed chief medical officer for TriCore Reference Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is responsible for the medical oversight of TriCore’s operations, and plays a key role in the initiative to provide health care professionals with easier and timelier access to laboratory information. He has been with TriCore since its inception in 1998. Designed as a not-for-profit laboratory services corporation, TriCore is the largest independent laboratory in the Southwest.

1980

Three alumni from different eras met up at a hockey game in October in Boston. Patrick Barr ’80, his son Sean ’16, and Charles Crevo ’59 watched Colorado College play Boston College. Charles, who is 82 years old, played football at CC. Sean’s best friend is Charlie’s grandson.

Louie J. Barton was chosen as Teacher of the Year at Mount Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Monika Reis ’80

Monika Reis of Montpelier, Vermont, completed all requirements in the course of study and was awarded a certificate as an archetypal pattern analyst. Her work was published in the Fall 2014 edition of The Assisi Institute Journal. 1983

Chris and Debbie Jones have moved to Sedona, Arizona. The Joneses report that Chris is using his anthropology degree to conduct vortex tours, and Debbie is using her psychology/education degree to make beaded jewelry.

Velva Price ’83

Velva Price was sworn in as district clerk of Travis County, Texas, on Jan. 2. Velva is the first African American to hold that office. After graduating from CC, she moved to Austin, Texas, and attended the University of Texas School of Law on a full-tuition scholarship. In addition to being the first African American woman to serve as president of the Austin Bar Association, she also served as president of the Austin Black Lawyers Association and Travis County Women’s Lawyers Association and chaired the Travis County Civil Service Commission for Sheriff Office Employees. In her new position, she oversees more than 100 employees and has oversight for all court proceedings on cases heard in the district court, including criminal, civil, and family/domestic relation cases. Her office also is responsible for jury empaneling and passports.

1990

Vicki Lovato was recently included in 5280 magazine’s list of Denver’s best health-care attorneys. Vicki is a partner at Silver & DeBoskey, P.C., in Denver, where her practice emphasizes representation of licensed professionals in administrative, disciplinary, and health care matters. The magazine’s 2015 Top Lawyers edition identifies Denver’s most accomplished attorneys through a rigorous peer review and independent research process.

1994

Chris Bryan has left the health-care industry after 20 years to serve as executive director of EducationFirst.org, a nonprofit group he started with fellow Colorado College alumni after graduation. Serving seven U.S. cities, the organization provides college scholarships to low-income youth who see higher education as a way out of generational poverty. Nominated for the Livesay Award for Social Change, Chris matches companies and individuals who want to sponsor students who are often the first in their families to go to college. EducationFirst.org has provided more than $700,000 in scholarship awards to nearly 200 low-income youth across five states.

“It all started in 1995 at a Colorado cabin with butcher paper and pens,” Chris says.

2004

2008

Garrett Adams has worked in commercial fishing in Portland, Maine, while earning his master’s in business from the University of Southern Maine. He has had various careers including commercial real estate and business brokerage, and now works at a regional distribution company in business intelligence analysis. He married Anne Brooks in December 2014, in Portland. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 2007 and holds a master’s in early childhood development from Wheelock College.

2012
