How did you find your way to Colorado College? My family used to take an annual ski trip from Minnesota to Colorado, and so I grew up with a real fondness for Colorado. 1958 1971 Kat Bradley-Bennett was the recipient of the Mountain and Plains Adult Education Association’s 2015 Award of Excellence for Colorado. The award was presented at the group’s conference in association with the Commission on Adult Basic Education and the Colorado Adult Education Professional Association. Mountain and Plains Adult Education Association is a coalition of nine western states that promotes education and life-long learning. Kat received her bachelor’s in music from CC and her master’s in adult education and training from Colorado State University in 2014. She lives in Longmont, Colorado. 1977 Lisa S. Portrait of the Artist as a Depressed Young Poet at CC

Although I thoroughly enjoyed CC, one aspect of my experience there actually led me into depression. The reason was simple; I’d been writing poetry since grade school but couldn’t get any poems accepted for the college’s literary magazine. This may seem an odd way to start a piece in praise of the college, but in fact the whole thing revealed something essential about it. I’m now a widely published writer and senior lecturer at Santa Clara University here in Silicon Valley.
