CC Exchange Spring Pop-Up and OOS Plant Exchange

Join the CC Exchange and the OOS for a spring revival event! The CC Exchange Spring Pop-Up will have a variety of free clothing items for students, while the OOS will be hosting a plant exchange to donate your plants before the end of the year and get new ones ranging from $2-5. Students, staff, and faculty are all welcome to play games and learn about the benefits of houseplants. This event is happening on Wednesday Apr. 3, from 2-5 p.m. in Hybl and on Thursday, Apr. 4 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in Worner Campus Center!

Additionally, clothing donations will be accepted at the event, and during the CC Exchange’s regular open hours on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m.

Earth Week 2024

We are excited to inform you that CC will be celebrating Earth Week this year from Apr. 22-26! Organized by the OOS in collaboration with numerous campus and community partners, Earth Week will offer a range of activities for the CC community. We invite you to join in our annual celebration of our planet and learn about practices of sustainability. If you have an event you’d like to showcase during Earth Week, please don’t hesitate to contact us at sustainability@coloradocollege.edu.

Sustainable Wednesdays

In Block 6, the Emission Team led the Sustainable Wednesday’s event where students engaged in block printing activities as well as trivia. Attendees enjoyed learning about the work of the Emissions Team through trivia questions and took home some crafty tote bags  with them. This Block’s Sustainable Wednesday’s event will be hosted by the OOS Communications Team. It will feature a fun game of Kahoot with questions regarding our social media. Winners will be receiving donuts! This event will take place on Apr. 10, from 12:30-1:30 p.m at Worner Campus Center.

Ditch the Dumpster

Ditch the Dumpster (DTD) is an annual program that encourages students to donate their gently used items instead of throwing them away during move out. By donating or recycling your items, you can help reduce waste and actively engage in sustainability practices on campus! DTD starts on Friday, May 10 at the Mathias Lobby, Loomis Lounge, South Hall Lobby, and Hybl Community Center. Donations will end for the Big 3 on Thursday, May 16, and for Hybl on Monday, May 20. For more information, check out the Ditch the Dumpster website

GHG Technical Report

Be on the lookout for the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory Annual Report, created by the Emissions Team. The GHG Inventory Report provides information about CC’s greenhouse gasses, the different “scopes” CC uses to differentiate sources of carbon emissions, and further explains what carbon neutrality, carbon offsets, and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) look like at CC. The report includes additional facts about the history of carbon neutrality at CC and is definitely a must read. Thank you to the Emissions Team for working so hard to create such a valuable resource for the CC community!

Meet the Admins

The Administrative Assistant Team plays a vital role within the OOS, handling a diverse range of responsibilities. From organizing events, such as the e-waste drop-offs throughout the year, to helping wiht office purchasing, and assisting staff and other student employees within the OOS – they keep the office running smoothly behind the scenes. Alyce Watt ’27 says she loves “working with a multitude of different student teams within the office, because of the variety of projects students are working on”. Adelaide Olberding ’26, enjoys “helping all the teams on their important projects to further the office’s sustainability mission.”
