Career Center Highlights

Questions Corner: Your Questions Answered!

Did you see the Career Center tabling in Worner Campus Center on Halloween? We asked you to share questions you were afraid to ask the Career Center so we can answer them in our newsletter.
The first questions we’re answering are: What services does the Career Center offer? What is the best year to use the Career Center?
AnswerThe Career Center offers a range of services, including support with: major/interest exploration; finding positions to apply to, including on-campus positions, internships, post-grad opportunities, and research; resumes, cover letters, and other application materials; interviews; graduate school; networking; professional development opportunities; and more! Our website is a great starting point for learning about our services and resources.

There are multiple ways to use these services. You can attend drop-in hours, held Monday-Thursday from 1-4pm at our office located at 1130 N. Cascade Ave, schedule a virtual or in-person appointment with us through Handshake, and attend one of our many events that can be found on Handshake.

The best year to use the Career Center is whatever year you’re currently in! The sooner you use our services, the better, so we recommend using our services as soon as you can. First-years, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and alumni within 2 years of graduating are eligible for our services.

Save the Date for Block 4 First Monday

Kick-Start Block 4 with First Monday: Defending Democracy Through Social Movements!

Join us Monday, Nov. 27, from 3:30-5 p.m. in Bemis Hall for a fascinating First Monday presentation from Srdja Popovic, Distinguished Visiting Instructor in Political Science, Defending Democracy Through Social Movements!

From brutal autocracies, like those in Iran and Burma, to “established” democracies, like Hungary or Poland, values and institutions of democracy are in peril all over the world. Historic cases and contemporary dynamics clearly point out that the most successful way to defend it is through mass social non-violent movements.

Stay after the presentation for a Q&A session. Light refreshments will be served.

RSVP requested, but not required, by Wednesday, Nov. 15.
