Running Rampantly in Regents

Miscellaneous

One day in class we were deep into the discussion of The Importance of Being Earnest when randomly, the thought of the dreaded freshmen 15 crossed my mind. I was immediately nervous about the famed fact and decided to run later in the afternoon. After class, I skipped art galleries and the general tom foolery that the rest of my classmates were doing and went for a quick lunch with Hayley. A surprisingly delicious Pret lunch came quickly to a close and my hopes of running came closer to reality. I was determined to get my sneakers back on.

Ever since my mishap in Merlin’s cave, (pretty sure me slipping was included in his prophecies) I was a little nervous to embark on my mission. I chose Regents Park as a fantastic place to conduct my little running adventure. I slipped my room key into my t-shirt pocket and began my workout playlist. I took off in a sprint, quickly getting lost and frustrated with crossing streets. I was very close to giving up and getting a smoothie when I caught a slight glimpse of the black fence that lined the park. Surging with a new found adrenaline, I sprinted into the green block. Knowing that I didn’t want to run too far, I mapped out a perfect circle that would be about half of the parks enclosure. I began my run and suddenly got caught in a lull, forgetting any direction that I went and was planning on going on. Suddenly, I looked to my right and saw a huge brown creature standing just a few feet from my face. Initially shocked, I did a quick double take only to see this brown figure as a camel. Somehow, my run had led me right into the zoo at the other end of the park. Astonished by this realization, I took a seat. Not knowing exactly where the zoo really was, panic struck over me. I did not know how long I was running for or how to get back. Suddenly, I heard a faint “Are you lost?” and turned around to see an old couple smiling at me. I proceeded to tell them my situation as they gave me the last few sips of their water bottle. They easily gave me exact directions as well as how long the trail back would be. Calmed greatly, I was able to finally begin my run again. I finally hit the gate that I entered in and a smile grew across my face, I actually did it.

Now that I have a better sense of the park as a whole, my next adventure might not be as precarious but will be equally as fun. Who knows what running excursions I will partake in next.
