it is not often you see a pedal steel, violin, and synthesizer in the same band. san francisco’s own black country, new road turned this denver bar into a chamber rock ridden electronic honky tonk; what a joy to see such a crowded stage. loud, quiet, fast, slow; they do it all at once.

Dutch Interior

touring their 2025 release, Moneyball, dutch interior was sentimental, real, and friendly, casually sharing their earnest tunes with a crowd that, like the band itself, all looked like they would be very good at skateboarding. “Sandcastle Molds” was a highlight, unsettling in a comforting way, this song drives. “Horse” was tender and sweet, delivered as if we were all just sitting in someone’s parents’ garage. dutch interior plays self-proclaimed “freak americana”, their freakiness finding home in their variety, as the majority of the band members sing vocals and trade instruments. however, their sound and performance are simultaneously united by their obvious friendship and appeal to the appreciation of just that.
