Students Display Art

A student examines the vibrant work of Katie Patterson ’14, whose studio art thesis show is among the first events in the newly renovated 802 space, named for its address at 802 N. Nevada Ave. The building, collaboratively run by Student Life and the Art Department, serves as a student activity space, providing an intersection between the curricular and co-curricular. 802 allows for greater flexibility in scheduling creative academic arts events and senior capstone experiences such as art exhibitions, film screenings, poetry slams, spoken word events, drama and dance performances, music recitals, receptions, lectures, and readings. — A student examines the vibrant work of **Katie Patterson ’14**, whose studio art thesis show is among the first events in the newly renovated 802 space, named for its address at 802 N. Colorado College studio art majors Michael Franceschi ’14 and Kylie Anderson ’14 hang “Two Years in Seville,” an art show that was displayed in Colorado Springs City Hall in December and January. The exhibit highlighted student artwork from the past two years of the Block 8 Advanced Drawing classes held in Seville, Spain. It featured work by Caitlin Armington, Adrian Baker, Garrett Benisch, Chris Edmonds, Anna Forster-Smith, Arianna Gentile Polese, Hunter Joerger, Sonora Miller, Erin O’Neill, Dominique Saks, Hailey Walsh, all Class of 2014, and Heidi Flores ’16, as well as Anderson and Franceschi. After the exhibit in City Hall, the show moved to the El Paso County Commissioners Office in Centennial Hall.
