Rock climber Abby Dionne will visit CC from October 3rd until the 5th. Abby is the first black woman in the United States to own a rock climbing gym and strives to make the outdoor community more diverse and inclusive. Ultimately, Dionne says that her goal is to create a safe and fun environment for people to meet and experience how powerful climbing can be. You can read more about her journey in Essence magazine and Melanin Base Camp’s blog.
While on campus, Abby will meet with the Outdoor Education community, host a movement clinic at the Rit Kellogg Climbing Gym, engage with students on topics ranging from leadership to environmental racism, and much more. Abby’s detailed schedule will be shared shortly, but in the meantime feel free to reach out to Britt McClintock (bmcclintock@coloradocollege.edu) or Kashia Dunner (kdunner@coloradocollege.edu) for additional details or to learn how you can connect with Abby during her visit.
