There is an amazing opportunity for you this summer in Durango, CO! Colvig Silver Camps, (CSC), a family-owned residential wilderness adventure camp based out of Durango, is hiring seasonal staff for the 2022 summer. Our seasonal staff are the reason that our campers come back year after year to experience a summer of significance.

A summer of employment at CSC will be valuable for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that a summer position at CSC has the potential to qualify for a college internship or practicum experience. Our Head Counselor, Assistant Counselor, and Pathfinding Instructor positions offer extensive experience in child-care skills, youth development, backcountry skills development, outdoor leadership, risk management, and more!

Our twelve-day Staff Training will include topics such as youth development, trauma-informed care and mental health curriculum, technical backpacking and outdoor skills, risk management, and outdoor leadership. During the summer, our Head and Assistant Counselor’s will lead multiple multi-day backpacking trips in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado or the canyon country of southeastern Utah.

Our counseling positions are a great fit for entry-level outdoor leaders looking for an opportunity to develop with new organizations and pick up new skills. We encourage anyone with an interest in developing their outdoor leadership and/or youth development skills to apply! We offer a competitive seasonal salary ($3,800 – $5,100 depending on position) along with room/board for the duration of your contract. Head Counselors will also receive a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) training during our Staff Training.
