After graduation, Emilia will assume her role as the yearlong PIFP Fellow at the ACLU of Colorado in Denver.
I am super excited about this position because it gives me the opportunity to work for an organization whose mission and work really align with my own beliefs and values. I believe that equal enforcement and defense of fundamental civil rights is a prerequisite to a functioning and equitable society. The ACLU truly embodies this belief and performs the kind of tangible, positive work I like to see. My entrance into this work could not be more timely and I am very excited.
The advice I would give to other CC students looking for a job would be to be the squeaky wheel. The wheel that squeaks gets the grease. You can’t get what you want without asking for it and advocating for yourself. When writing applications or asking for information or going to an interview, act like you own the place and you deserve everything you want because you DO.”
Congratulations Emilia!
