We are very excited about our final Executive-in-Residence of the academic year, Andrew Masterman ’89.
Whether you are interested in learning what it is like to work abroad, interested in how to leverage your liberal arts major, considering pursuing an advanced degree, or have career and/or life questions, this will be a great investment of 20 minutes of your time.
Mr. Masterman graduated from Colorado College (’89) with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Upon graduating, he moved to Japan where he worked in several engine parts factories as a local management trainee and lived among the Japanese people. He later received several Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor including his MBA and Master’s degrees in Japanese Studies and Industrial Engineering.
Mr. Masterman has been Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director at BrightView Landscapes, LLC since December 2016. BrightView, the world’s largest landscaping company employing over 22,000 employees, focuses on designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing commercial properties, city parks, resorts, and sports fields around the world. He has an extensive background across varied industrial businesses and significant experience managing large organizations. Prior to BrightView, Mr. Masterman served as Executive Vice President at Precision Castparts, a Berkshire Hathaway company that specializes in manufacturing structural investment castings, forged components, and airfoil castings for aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines. At Precision Castparts, Mr. Masterman served as President of the Wyman Gordon and Structural Casting segments, two key segments within the company, responsible for almost $4 billion in sales. Prior to Precision Castparts, Mr. Masterman served as President and Chief Executive Officer of North America for ESAB Group, Inc., a leader in welding and cutting equipment and consumables.
