PAID internships available, May-August 2018
Purpose: To offer students rich opportunities to connect classroom learning to practical experiences, to build professional skills and connections while interacting with a wide public audience. Interns have the opportunity to learn about museum operations; object/artifact care, handling, and assessment; collections management and ethics and standards of the international museum community.
Duties & Responsibilities: Summer interns will focus on a variety of projects within the museum collections, and will build broad expertise through a range of experiences across the museum departments. Interns will be working with both historical and contemporary works that are part of the museum’s collections, as well as works on loan to the museum. Interns will be responsible for research and documentation of fine art objects for inclusion in the museum database and to support exhibitions for the public and campus. Interns will develop skills including fine art handling, photographing objects and fine art, research and documentation, museum practice, etc.
