Meetings, Lectures, Symposia in CO

  • On Saturday, May 23, from 11 am -1 pm, the Denver Society of the AIA will host Dr. James Johnson at the Park Hill branch of the Denver Public Library for a hybrid lecture, “Is Size All That Important? – Scythian Burials”, as he presents his research on the burial mounds of the Scythians, the Iron Age people of the eastern European Steppe. Dr Johnson’s work brings to life a landscape memorialized in the Histories of Herodotus that has since been continually reshaped and redefined by the peoples and conflicts that have passed over it and is today contested territory in the nation of Ukraine. Attendance by Zoom is possible if you register here.
