Upcoming Events and Deadlines

Meetings, Lectures, Symposia in CO

  • (None currently scheduled!)
  • For early (and additional) announcements of events hosted by the Classics Department at CU Boulder, please visit the happenings page of its website.
  • Additionally, The Archaeological Institute of America, Boulder Society regularly gives advance notice of events pertaining to Classical Antiquity on its website.

Virtual Meetings, Lectures, Symposia

  • The Humanities Institute and the Ancient Studies Department at UC Santa Cruz (Go Slugs!) are hosting a pair of discussions of Homer’s Odyssey ahead of the release of the new (and hyped!) Christopher Nolan film on June 24th and July 1st, both at 7pm MDT. Whether you like movies or not, this is a great excuse to read this millennia-old story about a salty war hero who just wants to go home. Start your reading now, then join UC Santa Cruz Ancient Studies faculty Anne Kreps and Martin Devecka to discuss the wild world of Odysseus and what this epic can teach us about talking to strangers, lying, and picking a good disguise. This program will use the The Odyssey (Emily Wilson 2018 transl.) and will cover Books 1-12 on June 24th and Books 13-24 on July 1st. Find more information and register here.

Performances and Exhibits

  • The Buell Theatre at the DCPA will see another limited run of the classically inspired musical Hadestown during the week of June 8-13, 2027. Tickets for subscribers go on sale Oct. 27, 2026, with general release dates for tickets to follow. Start here for showtimes, prices, and additional information!
