This is an innovative Teacher Residency program at K-8th grade Arbor School dedicated to the training of future teachers through practical experience and reflection in a lab school setting. Teacher Residents earn an MAT and Oregon license through our collaboration with Pacific University after two years of full time teaching and graduate study.  The first year is a mentored co-teaching experience at Arbor School followed by a second-year experience teaching within another Portland metro-area public school school. To support Residents’ graduate study, we offer free on-campus housing, a monthly stipend, summer school teaching opportunities, and a half-tuition fellowship for Residents from ethnic, racial or cultural backgrounds currently underrepresented in the teaching profession.

Our program attracts liberal arts-minded candidates who are interested in place-based inquiry, interdisciplinary education, and the myriad socio-cultural issues that influence schooling across the United States. Meet the Director, a Teaching Partner and one of the current Teacher Residents and learn more about the program.

The presenters will be virtual via Zoom. We’ll offer Q&A so bring your questions!
