Stress…what stress?!

Posted by on May 15, 2014

Block 8 is not your normal block.  Sure, it holds all of the usual work we see from day-to-day, but there is an added dimension to it as the last block of the year.  Faculty and students are pushing hard to make it through to their summer break, and staff are gearing up for commencement and summer programs.

To take a time out from this crazy push to the end of the school year, the ITS:Team gathered for ice cream, conversation, and fun prizes this past Friday.  While the mood of most entering the ITS: conference room for the event was a bit subdued, that changed quickly when the treats were spotted (I swear I heard tiny squeals of delight from some individuals).

The ice cream and cannoli were accompanied by cool prizes that were raffled off throughout the break.  Thanks to Brian and Dave A. for donating some of the swag, and thanks to Sean, Vish, Katharina, Tracey, Dan, and Dave A. for helping me with drawing names.  While some folks weren’t quite sure what to do with what they won (who uses paper notebooks, even nice leather-bound ones, anymore?!), I think most were happy to have a new acquisition to take back to their office.

And now that the school year has drawn to close, here’s to a successful and sunny commencement weekend.  To all of you involved in this weekend’s festivities – from those who support the actual events to those who help the Registrar’s Office create the graduate list to those who provide anything for our seniors, parents, and honored guests (from wireless connections to directions) – thank you for what you do.  All of you make a difference and help to create one of the best weekends of the year!

ITS:Always fun, never boring
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Petro
