Alumni Association Board President
Ah, Homecoming. How wonderful it was to reunite with classmates and other fellow alumni, and to walk across our beautiful campus nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak. I always leave campus inspired, impressed, and re-energized after connecting and engaging in stimulating conversation. CC grads really distinguish themselves as people who are living great lives and making a difference in their communities and in the world — and they’re just so much fun!
While you may not have made it to Homecoming this fall, you can still enjoy that invigorating experience of connecting with fellow CC alumni in a variety of ways, without having to make the trek back to campus. Chances are there are a number of alumni living near you who would love to reflect on the intellectual adventures you shared at CC, continue the lifelong learning experiences, or just get together. If you aren’t already in contact with alumni in your area, you can easily find them using the EverTrue app (a free download from your phone’s app store) that the Alumni Office rolled out last year.
We on the Alumni Association Board, in partnership with the Alumni Office, are always working to make sure there are a variety of opportunities for alumni to come together and keep engaged with what’s happening at our alma mater. You could take advantage of one of the popular alumni travel programs, sign up for an alumni block break, or attend an event wherever other alums are found in major metro areas around the country and abroad.
Whether you’re looking for a purely social event, career networking opportunities, outdoor adventures, educational or family-friendly gatherings, an opportunity to serve, or a chance to cheer on the Tigers, we’re working to provide opportunities
that are of interest and accessible to all. From CC-inspired book clubs, and professor visits, to hockey parties and group hikes, we’re on board for pretty much anything.
Perhaps you want to support the college with Admissions activity, at college fairs or by assisting with alumni interviews. There are great opportunities to do that as well, especially now as the college is seeing applications reach record levels.
If you’ve not been hearing about alumni events in your area, or you would like to help plan an event, please let us know through the Alumni Office, or look for one of the Colorado College Alumni groups on Facebook. Also, watch your email for a message from the Alumni Office with a short survey seeking your opinions about the types of events you’d most like to see.
Sometimes people wonder if these alumni events are really just fundraising events in disguise. They’re not. Most alumni events have just a small fee only to cover expenses related to the event itself. While it’s certainly my hope that alumni will generously support the college financially, these events aren’t about that. They’re simply opportunities to connect and rekindle the unique experience that comes from being with other CC grads.
I hope you’ll enjoy an alumni event very soon. Go Tigers!
