Tigers Crossing Paths: CC Connections

“In reading “Tigers Crossing Paths” in the Bulletin I thought you might be interested in my story. In 2008 I contacted three of my CC schoolmates on the 50th anniversary of our summer in Alaska prospecting for gold (1958). One of the three was able to go to Alaska with me, Maury Hammond ’56, to look at areas favorable for gold mining. I bought two claims and staked other acreage and in 2009 went to Alaska for the summer with crew and equipment; I was the geologist, Maury was the geological engineer. 1969 Nicki Steel had her photo essay, “The Life of Loons on Lake Raponda,” published in the September/October 2018 issue of Vermont Magazine. When not shooting photographs, Nicki is serving as chair of Wilmington, Vermont’s Old Home Week for 2020, a once-every-10-year celebration dating back to 1890. 1970 Nancy Guild, a longtime professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado Boulder, recently had a $10,000 biology undergraduate annual scholarship endowment set up in her honor by former student Alex Meininger.
