3/6: The Power of National Service talk

The Economics and Business Department welcomes Kevin Ward!

Kevin Ward is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Public Service at Seattle University. He teaches public policy, public administration, and nonprofit management. Kevin’s research interests include AmeriCorps, nonprofit lobbying, motivations of public and nonprofit employees and interorganizational collaboration.

National service programs such as AmeriCorps have been described at a “Swiss Army knife” that serves many functions (Perry et al. 1999) Kevin’s presentation examines the impacts of national service such as AmeriCorps on individual participants,t he nonprofit organizations benefttting form national service human capital, the communities these organizations serve, and the potential for national service to strengthen democratic society.
