Pixar Animation Studios, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, is an Academy Award®-winning film studio with world-renowned technical, creative and production capabilities in the art of computer animation.  Pixar’s objective is to combine proprietary technology and world-class creative talent to develop computer-animated feature films with memorable characters and heartwarming stories that appeal to audiences of all ages.

SELECTED INTERNSHIPS

Production Management Intern: These positions offer valuable “hands on” experience and exposure to our unique production environment.  Throughout the 12-week internship Production Interns work in collaboration with a production team covering every aspect of our feature film pipeline.

Archives Intern: This position provides support to the Pixar Living Archives. You’ll work with various members of the Archives team in archiving assorted materials (paintings, drawings, pastels, sculptures, digital files, etc.) from our animated films and historical collection.

Public Relations Intern: The 12-week internship is intended to give students valuable “hands on” experience and exposure to our unique environment.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from working professionals!

Pixar Undergraduate Program (PUP): Pixar’s Undergraduate Program (PUP) is a 12-week, classroom-based hands-on course taught by a variety of experienced Technical Directors at Pixar.  In this program, students will have the opportunity to learn about Pixar’s filmmaking process and explore a variety technical career options as they get first-hand experience in how a production studio works. The classroom curriculum will focus on several technical aspects of filmmaking, such as: modeling, shading, rigging, lighting, simulation and FX. Students will work on projects individually and in small groups to reinforce lecture concepts.  Additionally, students will be exposed to production work in greater detail through presentations by a variety of Technical Directors at Pixar. The ideal candidates are those at the beginning of their academic career who is currently enrolled as an undergraduate student. PUP students will return to school upon conclusion of the program.

Linux Systems Administration Intern: Pixar’s Linux Systems team is offering an internship for students interested in Systems Engineering and DevOps. For 12 weeks you will collaborate with the Linux Systems team to work on projects where you will enhance infrastructure automation and developer experience. You will write code and utilize technologies to help us build and maintain infrastructure with reliability and security in mind. If you are someone with an interest in complex systems and a curiosity about how to make them easier to use and more reliable, this may be the internship for you!

Editorial Intern: This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from working professionals – to experience first hand “The day in the life of a Pixar Editor”.  Through our 12-week internship, Editorial Interns will work in collaboration with the Editing Department to do the following:

  • Gain knowledge about the Pixar editorial process, as well as the entire production pipeline
  • Work closely with other Editors to learn consistency, versatility and speed throughout the editorial process
  • Through using Avid Film Composer, your editing skills will be supported and challenged as you work with Mentors to review sequences and update reels
  • Provide various levels of organizational, operational and technical support to the production

Marketing Intern: geared towards students wanting to pursue a career in marketing within the entertainment industry. The 12-week internship is intended to give students valuable “hands on” experience and exposure to our unique environment. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from working professionals by assisting in the operations and responding to the needs of the department.

Art Intern: Pixar offers an exciting internship program intended to give students valuable “hands on” experience and exposure to our unique production environment.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from working professionals. During our 12-week Summer Internship, Art Interns will work in collaboration with Mentors and the Art Department, while gaining valuable feature film experience.  Interns will be expected to do the following:

  • Gain knowledge about the Pixar Art process, as well as exposure to the larger production pipeline
  • Create designs, design sketches, & model packets for review, revision and Production Designer approval
  • Research and collect reference that inspires designs and techniques
  • Utilize Photoshop and other software programs to help create design sketches, paintings and schematics
  • Other duties as assigned

Story Intern: Pixar offers an exciting internship program intended to give students valuable “hands on” experience and exposure to our unique production environment.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from working professionals – to experience firsthand “a day in the life of a Pixar Story Artist”. During our 12-week classroom-based Story training course, Story Interns will work in collaboration with Story Mentors to do the following:

  • Gain knowledge about the Pixar story process, as well as the entire production pipeline
  • Work closely with other Story Artists to learn consistency, versatility and speed throughout the drawing process
  • Your drawing and storyboarding skills will be supported, challenged, and strengthened as you work through a series of visual storytelling assignments designed specifically for this program

 Animation Intern: This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from working professionals – to experience firsthand “a day in the life of a Pixar Animator”.  Through our extensive 12-week, classroom based animation training course, Animation Interns will work in collaboration with Animation Mentors to do the following:

  • Using our proprietary animation software, your acting skills and animation ability, you will be supported and challenged as you work through a set of assignments beginning with the bouncing ball, and ending up with a full body acting shot
  • Gain knowledge of the production pipeline process
  • Attend animation dailies
