Sex in the stacks
Many libraries, many places, time immemorial-ongoing.
Students at many colleges and universities claim that sex in the stacks is common, sometimes even a rite of passage before graduation. It is unknown how much actual sex in libraries takes place, but a review of the literature and an informal poll suggest that sex in the stacks is more of a myth than a reality. http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=505583, http://library.duke.edu/blogs/answerperson/perkins-lobby-edition/

Similarly, the cross country team at Grinnell College has an annual streak including the library (thanks, Catherine Rod!) and the Ultimate Frisbee Team streaks through the library every spring during finals at Oberlin College, too (thanks, Ed Vermue!).
Chas in costume
Tutt Library, Colorado College, 1994-ongoing. Students dress up the statue of Charles Leaming Tutt, Jr. (“Chas”), for whom Tutt Library is named. The statue was installed in front of the library in 1992. The earliest CC Archives photograph of a statue decoration is from 1994.
